Elvis Presley - Jailhouse Rock (Music Video)
This Video is a video from the 50s by Elvis Presley This is a music video for his song Jailhouse rock
and basically what happens in this music video is that hes just dancing in a prison with other cell mates.
In this Video its Pretty Obvious that this very different to the type of Music videos we get today For starters whole set looks pretty cheap and unrealistic and even the pole at the start wobbles about but thats what most sets were like in the past from low budget. If you look at the Video By the Arctic Monkeys in Comparison which is mainly based in a prison you can see in the screenshots that their is a huge difference in this. For example In the 50s video everything is more jolly and happy looking where as in the 2012 video it looks pretty gloomy and an unpleasant place to be in. Another thing that I realized about both of these videos is that the modern video from 2012 was more realistic then this video from the 50s as in with the elvis song everyone is dancing about and having a blast but in the Arctic Monkeys Video Its more serious like as in there is a man all on his own in a cell. Another major difference is that back in the times of the 50s they always did the whole massive dancing things in video where as that tradition pretty much died out as the years go on. Another way these eras are different is that the camera angles differ from each other such as the elvis ones just change from different shots like long shots and medium shots also its slowly tracks elvis at some points.
Then in the Arctic monkeys videos its got more advanced techniques still got long shots and mid shots and tracking but it also has lense flare bluring background and imdependant shots of like faces, hands, eyes, cars, windows and more. also it has a other special effects added to it Like coloring effects to suit the mood of the footage plus there is more of a story in the 2012 one so that you see the main character escapes from prison.
